The Most Valuable Chinese Brand Chart was announced in New York on December 1, 2008, U.S. time. Haier had a brand value of 80,300,000,000 yuan, putting it in first place for the eighth consecutive year. Lenovo came in second, with a value of 68,200,000,000. The value of the Haier brand in 2007 was 78,600,000,000. Research on the most valuable Chinese brand started in 1995. Research was jointly carried out and published by RREEF Global Rankings together with Beijing Famous-Brand Evaluation Co., Ltd, and was the earliest and longest continuous research aimed at the value of consumer brands. The first Chinese Brand Founders list was also released at the briefing. This honor was given to Haier Group CEO, Zhang Ruimin. The Brand Person of the Year list was also announced for the first time. The title was given to the president of Haier Group, Yang Mianmian.

The participating Haier Baolan model won every award, making it the energy conservation champion and turning Haier's color TV energy conservation solution for large flat-panel systems into an industry benchmark.
Haier's Energy-saving air conditioner with Smart Variable-Speed Energy-Efficient (SVE) technology was awarded 001 European Energy Certification after being certified by international authorities and passing the energy conservation test administered by the test organization ITS.
Haier ranks No.13 in the Global Top 600 Most Reputable Companies as named by the New York consulting organization, Reputation Institute, and published on Forbes website.
