Story between Haier and Space Flight

In 2003, Haier signed the “Scientific Cooperation Agreement” with China Asia Pacific Mobile Telecommunications Satellite Co., Ltd., concerning joint exploitation of Beidou(COMPASS)Navigation Satellite System, which witnessed the beginning of Haier’s transferring space technology to civilian application.

After the Shenzhou Manned Spacecraft launched successfully in 2004, the utilization of space technology in civilian field was spread all over China. Haier, cooperating with experts in space and material technology, seized the initial market opportunity by the launch of first refrigerator which applied with aerospace insulating materials—Feitian Wangzi variable frequency refrigerator, the first variable frequency product in the world. In the same year, Haier succeeded in applying the same technology in freezer—Feitian Xiaofuhao freezer.

In 2006, China Astronaut Research and Training Center, through a long-term tracing assessment to Haier’s R&D capability, deemed that Haier was already competent for developing China’s first spacecraft refrigerator. Since then Haier began the research and development of spacecraft refrigerator.

In 2011, Shenzhou 8 Spacecraft, with Haier’s refrigerators was successfully launched, and all indexes of the refrigerators were good after Shenzhou 8 returned the earth.

On March 21, 2012, Haier was entitled “Strategic Cooperation Partner” and “Exclusive Official Refrigerator Supplier of China’s Spacecraft” by China Astronaut Research and Training Center at Appliance World Expo in Shanghai.

On June 16, 2012, Haier’s refrigerators were once again carried into the outer space with Shenzhou 9 Manned Spacecraft for preserving medical reagents.
